Day 11 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Rose Hall in Montego Bay

For something a little different, visit a restored Jamaican Great House at Rose Hall. Rose Hall dates from 1780 and is where the legendary “White Witch” Annie Palmer ruled her sugar plantation with extreme cruelty and where she died a violent death. Rose Hall features classic 18-century architecture and is decorated with furniture and fittings of the period. It serves as a reminder of Jamaica’s tragic colonial past and tells the tale of Palmer and her practice of voodoo. She was ultimately killed in a slave uprising in 1831, and some say she still haunts the place, riding on a large black horse…
