Day 170 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Tour an 18-Century Plantation in a 21st Century Way

One of the best ways to tour the Prospect Plantation, one of the oldest estates on the island, is by Segway. A tour guide will tell you all about the plants, animals, history, and architecture of the locale while you enjoy an easy ride through the grounds. The tour comes complete with lessons in how to ride the Segway, and soon you’ll be cruising along the rural roads to explore what the 1,000-acre estate has to offer. Dating from 1721, the grounds include a tropical forest, Great House, and gardens. For refreshments to keep you going, try some fresh coconut juice while you take in the view from the Great House. Also featured on the tour is a visit to the Chapel, which displays the quality craftsmanship in its wood paneling and furnishings. A visit to the gift shop and you’re back on your way – on your Segway.
