Day 181 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Make a Splash at Makka Beach

Known for the Makka Pro Surfing contest, this beach is legendary among surfers. Located in Southaven in St. Thomas, the contest is sanctioned by Jamaica’s Tourist Board and attracts professional surfers from around the world. The beach gets winds that come up early in the morning for most of the year. Surfers describe the wave here as “long point” that can hold large swells. The surfing at Makka has been called “world-class” with excellent barrel sections and “stand up” walls readying to carve.

In case you missed any of the past “365 Things to Do, See and Eat in Jamaica“, here they are all together.
