Day 262 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Shop at the Gallery of West Indian Art

A major shopping area in Montego Bay, where you’ll want to stock up on souvenirs of your trip, features the Gallery of West Indian Art in the St. Catherine Hall neighborhood. The gallery offers an excellent array of Jamaican and Caribbean painting, woodcarving, and crafts. It is the perfect place to pick up some top-quality souvenirs of your Jamaican adventure. In particular, consider the gallery’s “spotties,” which are hand-painted, carved wooden animals that feature painted “spots” all over. They have a definite whimsical quality: authentic and special.
