Day 356 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Have a Slice of Jamaican Christmas Cake

The traditional cake – sometimes called Black Cake – served at Christmas is a fruit cake made with dried fruits and drowned in rum or wine – sometimes steeping in the alcoholic beverage for months before being served. It is the only dessert deemed acceptable at a real Jamaican Christmas dinner, and every home is expected to serve the cake to holiday guests. The cake is also favored as a gift among Jamaicans during the holiday season.
