Usain Bolt 7th on ESPN top popular athletes list

Jamaican Olympic champion Usain Bolt has been named to the Top 10 Most Famous Athletes in the World by ESPN. Bolt, 30, is ranked at Number 7, up from the Number 15 spot he held in 2016. The Jamaican will be honored at the 2nd Annual Racer Grand Prix on June 10, 2017, where he will race in Jamaica for the last time. He is also slated to record his much anticipated season opener at the track competition, which has been called “Salute to a Legend.” During his career, Bolt has won eight Olympic gold medals in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4×100-meter relay. This is the most of any sprinter in history. Bolt is also the world record holder in the 100-meters with a time of 9.58 seconds, and the 200-meters with a time of 19.19 seconds. ESPN analytics director Ben Alamar compiled the rankings using a formula dependent on variables such as endorsements, social media followers, and internet search popularity.
