Poems

I thought

Written by MaxineFoster

I thought it was

He, it was She
As I lay
In sleep
In woes

Weepin
Walkin
Trodin
The earth
treet
lifeless

In mournin
grief
For many months

Years

I thought he
he
betrayed me
took my love
until
the Divinity
in me speak
that pain
has no face
color
it was pain
that tries

to deceive
confuse
teal the love
that was

is
already in me
Yes, I found out
That pain comes

 in disguise
in the form of me–you
with a smile—at times

pain will befriend
you—will befriend me
will find every race
Color and creed
When we don’t forgive
When we don’t remember
Love
The Greatness
That lies deep within.©2008 Maxine Foster
