Jamaica Ranked Top Island
Written by StephanieK

Popular online travel site TripAdvisor has ranked Jamaica as the Number 1 Caribbean destination for 2016 because it offers the perfect combination of music, culture, natural beauty, history and adventure. TripAdvisor cited Seven Mile Beach, Negril Cliffs, and Mayfield Falls as don’t-miss attractions on the island. Omar Robinson, the president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), the top Caribbean ranking represents a commitment of tourism player in Jamaica to the delivery of high-quality service and products. According to Robinson, the ranking “is the ultimate affirmation” of JHTA’s efforts.

The ranking follows a period in which Jamaica has experienced considerable growth in the number of visitor arrivals; the highest number of arrivals in the past four years was recorded in July 2016 with 211,000. TripAdvisor ranked Hawaii’s Maui as the top island destination in the world for 2016, followed by Santorini in the Aegean Sea. Ranking in fourth place was Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Rounding out the Top 10 island destinations in the world on TripAdvisor’s list are Bali, Indonesia; Majorca, Balearic Islands; Mauritius, Africa; Phuket, Thailand; Bora Bora, Society Islands; and Fernando de Noronha, Brazil.

Five Jamaican Hotels were in 2016 TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Top 25 Ranking of Bargain Hotels. Jamaica’s Trident Hotel in Port Antonio took Top Spot among Best Luxury Hotels in Caribbean.
