Jamaica Reggae Industry Association Honor Awards 2016 – Review & Photos

Reggae Month’s marquee event, the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Honor Awards was held on February 28th at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston.  The annual event seeks to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the music industry.

This year, over twenty four (24) persons where honored in various categories. Some of the awardees were Alan Magnus (Media), Nesbeth (Song of the Year), Jahmiel (Breakthrough Artiste of the Year), Startime (Promoter), Gussie Clarke & Lee Scratch Perry (Producer), Junior Lincoln (Mentorship), Lloyd Parks & We The People (Band), Gem Myers (Iconic Female Artiste), Yellowman & Stranger Cole, Fill Callender & Boris Gardener (Musicians) & Chaka Demus & Pliers (Duo).

Hosted by Fae Ellington the ceremony was well attended by patrons in the music industry, media and friends and family of the awardees. The event also included performances from Half Pint, Gem Myers, Lloyd Parks & We the People, Pessoa & Everol Wray, the string section from Youth Orchestra of Jamaica with horn section by Alpha Past Students.
