Jamaican Basketball Player Named Serbian League MVP

Jamaica’s Kimani Ffriend has been named the Most Valuable Player in the Serbian Basketball League. Ffriend, 39, had an average of 22 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Superleague Dynamic team. His outstanding performance accumulated 672 points for the 26-week season and the MVP title. During the 2017 season, Ffriend was MVP seven times, and the 221 total rebounds he achieved was second highest in the season. Ffriend said that winning the MVP means a lot to him. In November 2012, Ffriend was involved in an accident in Belgrade in which his car hit and killed Nevena Dragutinovic, 30. He was convicted of manslaughter in September 2014 and received a three-year prison sentence. He is waiting for a verdict on his appeal of the conviction. Winning the MVP award is a great accomplishment, Ffriend said in an interview with SportsMax.tv, adding that the past four years has been a life-changing experience for him and “to be able to overcome all of that and to achieve all the success I had this past season is a testament in itself.”
