Dr. Andre Dick, currently associate professor in the division of transplant surgery and the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital, has been named as Surgical Director of Renal Transplantation at the Children’s Hospital. Dr. Dick will partner with the Medical Director for Renal Transplantation, Dr. Jodi Smith of Nephrology. Dr. Dick received his medial training at the State University of New York School of Medicine and completed his residency at Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in abdominal transplant surgery at the Medical Center of the University of Washington. He joined the University’s Department of Surgery and Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2008 as assistant professor of surgery. Among the clinical interests of Dr. Dick are liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, as well as hepatobilitary surgery. His research centers on obesity and its impact on transplant outcomes and on health care disparities in transplantation. He has been board-certified in General Surgery since 2006 by the American Board of surgery. Dr. Dick has also been the Region 6 Representative to the Pediatric Transplant Committee for the United Network for Organ Sharing. He completed his Masters Degree in Public Health in 2011 at the Harvard School of Public Health. In July of 2014, Dr. Dick was promoted to associate professor of surgery from his previous role as assistant professor of surgery.
