Jamaican Kristina Newman-Scott, named as Connecticut’s new director of culture.

Jamaican Kristina Newman-Scott is now Connecticut’s new director of culture.   Newman-Scott was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, where she was an art consultant for eight years before migrating to United States. She was a popular television & radio personality and visual artist in Jamaica and has a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston. In 2014 she was named to Hartford Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” list and to Next City Vanguard’s “40 Under 40” list in 2015.
