JCDC Receives book donation from Jamaican Author
Author and Poet Donna Hart (third left) shares a laugh with Executive Director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Delroy Gordon (right), Events Coordinator at the JCDC, Michael Nicholson (left) and Information Specialist Susan Haye, as they read a passage from Hart’s book Mek Wi Laugh and Talk, An Anthology of Jamaican Poems. Hart recently donated the book to the JCDC, to be added to the library of Jamaica’s premier cultural institution in time for the 2016 Emancipation and Independence Celebrations. Mek Wi Laugh and Talk will join other notable Jamaican works which unearth, develop, preserve and promote the creative talents and cultural expressions of the Jamaican people on the JCDC’s shelves. Hart, a Jamaican poet, is rostered to read her works at the Calabash Literary Festival in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth this weekend.
