On this day in Jamaican history: Bounty Killer

On June 12, 1972 dancehall entertainer, Bounty Killer (born Rodney Basil Price) was born in Trenchtown area of downtown Kingston, Jamaica. Rodney  was a child when his family moved  to  Riverton City (formerly known as Dungle), and finally Seaview Gardens, Kingston. One of nine children to his mother “Miss Ivy” and father, owner of a small sound system, Rodney first picked up the mic as a deejay at nine years old. He is the founder of a dancehall collective known as The Alliance with deejay Mavado.
