Jamaican athletes Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and O’Dayne Richards continued to fine-tune their skills for the 2016 Olympics in Rio by achieving wins in Padova, Italy, at the Atletica Mondiale competition at Stadio Euganeo, which ran from . Fraser-Pryce will be defending her 100-meter title in Rio and displayed little discomfort in Italy from a toe injury that has bothered her this season as she easily achieved her victory on July 17, 2016, with a time of 11.25. Richards, a World Championships bronze medal-winner in the shot put had his second-best effort, throwing 20.78 meters for the win in Padova. Quarter-miler Stephenie Ann McPherson, the reigning Jamaica national champion, clocked 50.98 seconds to win the women’s 400 meters.
