Jamaican Breadfruit Cornmeal Porridge Recipe

In Jamaica breadfruit is often served roasted or boiled. Did you know it makes a great porridge? Breadfruit is high in protein and when combined with cornmeal or by itself makes a great porridge. Learn how to make Jamaican Breadfruit Cornmeal Porridge.

  • ½ fit (almost ripe) medium breadfruit puréed or 1 cup breadfruit flour or
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ½ vanilla
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg
  • 1 pinch cinnamon

Method

  1. Place all, except the nutmeg and cinnamon in a large pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Simmer 15-20 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon on top before serving
