Team Jamaica wins the Gold Medals for Chef and Team of the Year

The Jamaica National Culinary Team, dubbed “Team Jamaica “, won medals in all 7 competition categories available at this year’s Taste of the Caribbean held in Miami, Florida this week. The team won the gold medal for the Team of the Year category and Rochelle Grindley won the gold medal for Chef of the Year. Below is the Team Jamaica medal count:

Gold – Team of the Year
Gold – Rochelle Grindley , Chef of the Year
Silver – Tiffany Grant, Cheesecake category
Silver – Adrian Johnson, Bartender of the Year category
Bronze –  Michael Thomas, Beef and Seafood category
Bronze – Shekera Cassie, Pastry Chef of the Year
Bronze –  Marlon Brown, Junior Chef of the Year,

“We wish to say thank you for the support, prayers and well wishes as we try to represent our country and build the capacity of the young people,” said Marsha Grant, public relations and communications liaison officer for the Culinary Federation of Jamaica.

The Jamaica National Culinary Team was led by Chef Mark Cole –Executive Chef at the Jamaica Pegasus, comprised of :  Chef Rochelle Grindley- Beeches Negril -Team Captain,  Chef Warren Rowe – Rockhouse Negril,  Pastry Chef Shakera Cassie- Couples Sans Souci,  Jr Chef Marlon Brown – Secrets Resorts, Chef Tiffany Grant- Couples Tower Isle, Chef Michael Thomas- Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, Jr Apprentice Chef Cadayne Wynn- Heart College of Hospitality Services and Bartender Adrian Johnson
