7 Day Itinerary for Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is one of the most important resorts in Jamaica.  It is located in the parish of St Ann  on the north eastern coast 108 kilometers east of Montego Bay.   This town used to be a sleepy fishing village but it has  become a cruise ship port and home to many resorts.

Day 1
This is the No. 1 attraction in Ocho Rios and in Jamaica.  You can’t afford to miss
exciting adventure of climbing the most famous falls in the world.  The climbing starts from the bottom up – special shoes are recommended to climb the falls.  These can be rented from vendors on the property.  The climbers form a human chain and are led by a tour guide while the other guide stays at the other end.

Day 2
Take a trip to Dolphin Cove and swim with the dolphins, sting rays, sharks in their natural environment.  It’s exhilarating and fun  – see the dolphins in all their glory at play  – they can dance too, be kissed and caressed.

Day 3
Visit Mystic Mountain Rainforest which offers an exciting zipline adventure.  You will be whisked through the rainforest, glide from one platform to another and catch a glimpse of the Ocho Rios coastline, Dunns River Falls.  

Day 4
Take a leisurely stroll in the beautiful butterfly garden.  Watch them in their natural habitat.  Come and see Jamaican butterflies flitting from flower to flower and from plant to plant as they display their beautiful wings for all to see.

Day 5
Want to have some fun, visit Margaritaville Bar and Grill that provides all day family fun and night time entertainment.   This property boasts a rooftop whirlpool hot tub,  a fantastic two-story 100 foot long waterslide that soars above the main bar and plunges into the freshwater pool below with a swim-up pool bar.  This is a hit spot for locals, visitors and cruise ship passengers.

Day 6
Go tubing on the White River – its known for its fresh river water and surrounded by lush tropical scenery.  You will pass by lush vegetation, coconut plantation and fauna along the riverbank.  The water is shallow and there are guides to ensure you keep on the right track.   River tubing is normally enjoyed by the entire family – the tour is 45  – 1 1/2 hours.

Day 7
Get a taste of agricultural life in Jamaica.  Visit Prospect Plantation and get a taste of exotic fruits.  Take a trip through the orchards of coconut, limes, breadfruit and pineapples.   Enjoy the entertainment and activities such as horseback riding, mini golf.   Ride in the jitney and explore the plantation, breathe in fresh country air and sample natural coconut water.
