The next three months, (April – June 2009) Jamaicans.com is holding a book drive to benefit the Allen-Shaw Reading Room in Jamaica with a goal of collecting 80 children’s books by June 30th, 2009. We are asking for your help. We hope to distribute the books in Jamaica by August 30th, 2009.

It is always with extreme excitement that we fill up the shelves with the gift of books from the supporters of the Jamaicans.com Annual Book Drive. 2008 is the year that we replenished the sections for African-American/Black History and Caribbean/Jamaican Authors. I don’t have to tell you how absolutely fabulous the books were. Great titles, Great Authors, Great Stories!
There is always excitement for the Children. They gather around to see what new books are going in their section. We have to simply let them unpack (OK, tear the boxes apart) to pick out what they want. And before the books are logged into our system and tagged, they are being checked out. What can we do about that? Nothing! We are excited about children wanting to read!
