  • Question for the Ladies - for a change

All things being equal, what is more important...looks or profession?

  • #2
    Neither. Characteristics.

You were only given a choice of 2. We are not looking at depth or character issues this time around. These have already been explored fully over the years.

Tropicana, which one is important to you?

Tough call ......however, based on my tracked record, I have consistently bypassed men who looked incredible but didn't have it together professionally.

Case in point, the Jamaican guy who does deliveries for a Jamaican restaurant.

Saw him again 2 weeks ago and we had a long chat while my mom, son and I were dining.

Yes he chatted with my son too. They both like basketball. *sigh* despite my efforts to steer my son away from the sport. I have lost the battle when it comes to basketball and hoodies.

Bottom line, I could never get involved with a grown man who does deliveries, helps out in the kitchen, and wipes down tables no matter how good he looks.... and this one looks .......

Now he would be a perfect choice for a woman who is into one night stands but that has never been me.

Sounds like a nice hard working gentleman to me. He is doing honest work. What is wrong with basketball?

The grandmother and I have always discouraged the basketball. The players strut around and they are WAY too macho. Look at the way they show off and hang on to the nets. When did THAT become part of the game?

Alas, the battle against basketball has been as ineffective as the battle against hoodies. I made sure he registered for Little Tykes Soccer when he was 3 so he would have something to play with his cousins in Jamaica.

Fast forward 22 years...all the young male cousins in Canada, Jamaica and the USA are into basketball. One cousin in Montreal is even on a basketball scholarship to a US university.

The nail in the coffin came as I had always discouraged interest in basketball....."The players are much too macho and they are terrible role models for Black boys. Pay attention to ...."

              Wait for it...

"...Tiger Woods. He is so clean cut and wholesome."

              Famous last words.

It is a hopeless case. Yes, my son plays basketball now.

Xavier honestly, what would I do with a hot looking Jamaican man who delivers Jamaican food, wipes down tables and helps in the kitchen.

He speaks very clearly though with hardly a trace of an accent but he does drop the occasional "h".

Now if he owned the restaurant...different story.

Honestly, Xavier, would you have no problem if a daughter brought a guy like that home? My dad would have FREAKED!!

                  They have nothing on fencers

Fencing. Oh that's way too feminine.

Soccer, football, even baseball, masculine without being too macho.

Rugby...forget about it. Much too much testosterone.

Agree if character is what you meant

P.S,. My friends and I used to play this looks vs profession game when we were giggly 15-yr-olds
