(Har poor grndma had brought up ackee from Ja). I believed she lived in public housing because it was during the time Idi Amin drove the Indians out of Uganda and a lot of them lived in har bldg and she used to fuss about the smell of curry. You seet no Wally - bammy dem tick so till - people no waan mek and eat bammy like we used to - all dem want is rice and more rice. Every day we nyam bammy and fried fish. I crater cassava until my fingers bleed when I was a youngster. All you need is the round ring to put on the pot and bake your bammies the right consistency. Until the day I die I still know how to make bammy, starch and corn dumpling from scratch. All dem people a talk bout new fangle wraps - awey dem think we used to do with bammy - wrap up curried lobster, curry crabs and fish (pick out the bones first), even stew peas we used to wrap up in our bammy.
