This was the lobby of Golden Seas back in the early 90's. Spent some real good times there.

I was told last winter that Mr Bolt gave permission for the community to take anything usable off of the property. real nice gesture. I wish him much success.

I have seen the coral plantings and had taken excellent underwater photos that
were compromised by a fool. still aggravated as you can see

Mel has done some fine things for the turtle pop. He was a boardie here but got his feeling hurt I guess. don't remember his handle.

The beach you spoke of near rio Nuevo is called Sugar Pot beach. We first found it last winter and is now a new favorite. Try and check it out.

    Thanks a lot for sharing
Rootsie!!! i KNEW somebody on jcans.com had a connection to Golden Seas, just couldnt remember who. I was starting to actually doubt that it was the same hotel, because it seemed so mashup and i didnt think that amount of damage would have occurred so quickly after reading about the hotel on jcans.com. That's why my question was whether a hurricane did it. Thanks for the extra info that Usain gave folks permission to help themselves, i never got that story while i was there.

if i knew Mel had been on the board i would have tried to make the connection. Tho, come to think of it, if his feelings got hurt on here, it's probably just as well He does seem to be a sensitive sort, passionate about the turtles and the local environment. a kind of guy i can relate to.

Yes, Sugar Pot beach, not Sugar Foot. Hoping to reach Jamaica with the girls next summer, i'll rent a car and go see what that beach is about.

Thanks for stopping by, Roots, and glad you were able to get back into the board to share your Oracabessa stories.

So sorry about your family's loss Mountaingal. I'm sure Auntie would have been pleased with your tour.

I had a hard time resigning up here in order to see your photos.

two rooms side by side, each with ensuite bathroom, tons of closet space and a view overlooking what i think is part of boscobel harbour. designed and decorated by K's lady, who's a realtor. very clean lines almost Scandinavian esthetic that is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Nikola's found object bohemianism.
    Stylish

i don't know if it was the sunhot, but all of a sudden i felt like i was on the steps of some weird world. no lie, The Pirate's Daughter novel by MCT flashed into my mind. i was happy to take my leave and head back to my room at NIkola's where things were relatively ordinary.
LOL! You're right to get away - just follow your instinct if something nuh feel right.

Lovely kids, happy and enjoying being at the beach even though they were the only ones in the water. wished they were my grandkids.
