  • Escape from "The Land of Entrapment" (N.M.)

Taos, NM to Helena, Mt. in 19 hrs.

The morning held little promise. The spraying had placed my mind in a barium fog with slight overtones of an aluminum oxide deficit disorder restlessness.
...then there was the obvious sign.

    012.jpg

I decided to check in on "the roommate/renter"... 74 years old, entitled, narcissistic, and unable to change his bedsheets in 2 years....not only living here but also under the mistaken impression that he was managing the place as well.
I had enabled him for too long.

    029.jpg

I asked him to move and he threated to beat me up. He is in congestive heart failure, has an annuerism that is ready to pop, bad kidneys, blood in his urine....

So I prayed for guidance, woke up the next morning and decided to hit the road north.

Sometimes you just have to take care of yourself. The hard part was making the decision to ask the current girlfren to stay and help this guy move out. My part would be to remove the testosterone from the situation. Suprisingly it was all good. So I packed up a bag, my trusted and devoted companion "Maggie", and a handtruck, and left. You never know when you'll need a handtruck.

    033.jpg

I prayed again when I noticed a church with a direct linkup to god.

glimpsing the occasion Jet on a Stick...I felt somewhat safer. We're in Colorado.

A few hills stand between us and I-25 north.

A last glimpse of rural America before we hit the freeway toward Denver, the gawdawful designated future North American capitol of the New World Order. Cities under mountains, a very strange airport, Aurora...a literal feast for conspiracy nuts.

thanks Rich...I've got to make a trip to town but will finish it up when I get back in a few hrs. I'm currently staying with friends in a house that is a converted church...actually it was the first black church in Helena, about 5 blocks or so from the capital. Pics to come.

OK, where was I? Oh yeah....somewhere north of Pueblo I looked back and noticed a bridge that hadn't been burned, followed by a sign on the right that read "Cheyenne Mt. Zoo". Cheyenne Mt. is where that first military Doomsday nuke-proof mile underground bunker was. They've since moved on, I've heard...and then there was another sign.

Colorado Springs, I think...about 4 1/2 hrs into the journey.

                      096.jpg

then Denver, the last pothole on the freeway of love.

and just past the border into Wyoming was this park dedicated to ballistic missiles where one can go for a quiet walk near the freeway. The missiles are those small phallic white things in the picture. I only caught a glimpse.

People from Wyoming like to place metal statues of stuff on cliffs overlooking freeways. Dinosaurs. Rhinosaurus .Buffalo. Cowboys. Stuff like that.

                        162.jpg

Saw another sign...the word "independence" etched in history.

                        179.jpg

I'd been on the road since 8:30am and the amount of sunlight left in the day could be measured in minutes. The halfway point had been reached just beyond Casper.

We reached our destination in Helena at 3:30am and found the key to the door, as had been arranged. The sanctuary. Downstairs an attached apartment was waiting, a cozy bed, and a mini-snickers bar on the pillow. Sleep felt good!
                        Yeah, but i didn't know what i didn't know.

Flakes of snow had just begun falling when we arrived. Upon awakening I looked out to this:

                          2001.jpg

As I mentioned, this place used to be a church.

                          2002.jpg

Capitol dome a few blocks away. I went in there last year. There was a sign next to the entrance that said "Check Your Guns at the Door". That was the only security there was. Gotta love the spirit.
