JOB TITLE: Principal

LOCATION:  St. Jago High School, Spanish Town

DESCRIPTION: To provide effective management and leadership to the school in accordance with the strategic direction of the Ministry of Education and the Board of Management; To motivate academic, administrative and ancillary staff to undertake their duties efficiently and on a timely basis; To provide leadership skills that will further enhance the academic and co – curricular performances of the school; To maintain and enhance the school environment that fosters strong Christian principles and the social growth and overall development of the students; To prudently undertake the duties of the “accountable officer” responsible for the collection, receipt, custody, issue or payment of public funds and the management of the school plant.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field; Professional Certification in Teaching and/or Education; At least five (5) years supervisory experience at the secondary level; Participation in the Ministry of Education’s leadership training program; Thorough knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s Rules and Regulations; Good working knowledge of the Financial Administrative and Audit Act, the Public Sector Procurement Guidelines, and laws relating to industrial relations and child care and protection; Strong strategic leadership and management skills; Excellent skills in budgeting, communication and interpersonal relations; Good working knowledge of computer applications; Proven ability in curriculum development.
