Double Olympic Games silver medallist Yohan Blake returned to action in his favourite sport – cricket – on Saturday and helped his team Bartley’s XI to a 36 – run win over the Correctional Services in the Sherwin Williams-sponsored St. Catherine Twenty20 cricket league here at the Prison oval.
Blake, who came out at number 5 in the batting order, started off slowly while stroking few singles on both sides of the pitch. However, in the last three overs, he went on the attack, which brought about one of the game’s biggest sixes, which damaged the back glass of a car parked outside the small ground. Blake went to inspect the damaged car where he was greeted with a hand shake by the owner, who told him “it’s part of cricket.”
He went on to make 20 off 21 balls before falling to the last ball of the innings when he chipped at a ball and missed only to be stumped by the wicketkeeper.
