Reggae Marathon 2014 highlights
Jamaicans Rupert Green and Karlene Blagrove are the the 2014 Reggae Marathon champions. They collected the Bob and Rita Marley trophies respectively.
Green won the event in one of the island’s main tourism destination, Negril in 2 hours, 34:35 minutes.
American Arturs Bareikis was second to Green in 2:40.22 and last year’s winner Gregory McKenzie 2:45.16.
Blagrove topped the female field in 3:37.51 over Canadian Dana Martin-Kelley 3:50.34.
In the men’s half marathon event, Kirk Brown of Jamaica, won in one hour, 11.32 minutes ahead of compatriot Jassette Bromfield 1:16.29.
The women’s half marathon title went to Melina Frei of Switzerland in 1:31.06 ahead of Juliett Dinnal of Jamaica 1:34.31.
The 10k men’s title went to Dwayne Graham 32.57 ahead of Daniel Glave 33.03.
Holmwood’s schoolgirl Shanieke Watson 39.50 and her teammate Lisa Buchanan 39.52 crossed the line almost the same time.
Bellefield High won the boys team event while Holmwood topped the girls section.
