Farewell by Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange

Jamaica’s former Sports Minister Olivia Grange seized the opportunity to outline her achievements during the four years of the previous administration, while charge new Minister Natalie Neita Headley to develop on the foundation laid, while presenting her with a copy of the Sports Policy Green Paper to build on.

However, many included Neita Headley said Grange chose the wrong place for what many dubbed her ‘farewell speech with with emotions’. Several persons who attended the launch of Grace Foods and Services nutritional support to the Jamaica Athletics Administration (JAAA) believed Grange went beyond the call of duty.

In a Gleaner story, Neita Headley said: “I believe the minister (Grange) might be licking her wounds a little bit and she did a farewell speech today and I would also like to wish her well, as she moves on.”

One of Grange’s noted comment was “It took five ministers to take over from ‘Babsy’ Grange” referring to the split in the portfolio of Culture, Youth and Sports she held and divided between two offices.
