Tanice Barnett says distance runners deserve exposure

Jamaica’s distance runner Tanice Barnett, in responding to talks that she among others should not have been sent to the Commonwealth Games, has said they deserved the spots.

“We earned our spots. We worked to be there. Anything you have worked for, you deserve to get it,” said Barnett, who ran the 1500m in New Delhi, India.

“People can say what they want to say, but in order for distance runners to get better, the experience is what we need … That will help us and prepare us for World Championships,” continued Barnett, who was speaking after the Burger King 10k in Portmore on November 14.
