Vybz Kartel’s ‘King of the Dancehall’ sold 1,867 copies in its 1st week and climbed to the top of the reggae Billboard chart debuting at number two. But with other popular genres having average 1st week sales of 50,000 – 100,000 copies and Kartel being dancehall’s biggest star, this is can only be seen as a disappointment. Why aren’t dancehall albums selling as much as its foreign counterparts? We discuss!
