Navy Island was once owned by Hollywood actor Errol Flynn, who was famous for his portrayal of pirates in several films. He was also known for throwing wild parties. Flynn either bought the island or won it gambling and used it as his private retreat. He planted the long row of Royal Palms that remain today, one of the most beautiful stands of the trees in the world. Before Flynn, the island was used by the British Royal Navy as a gun battery. It’s a great place to walk around and see the wide array of lush plants and trees.
