The Blue Hole Mineral Spring is one of the best off the beaten path things to do in Negril. This Blue Hole is in the hills overlooking Negril. The roads are bumpy getting up the hill but it is definitely worth it. There is good signage leading you there and you get to see a little of the Jamaican countryside. Here are 5 things we loved about Blue Hole Mineral Spring in Negril.
1. No Fanfare (like the other tourist traps)
The property that the Blue hole is on does not have the fanfare you see at other Tourist attractions, which is perfect if you like laid back activities. We were the first to arrive that morning so we had the “blue hole” to ourselves.
2. The Mineral Bath
The water in the hole is from a natural spring. The sand from the bottom of the spring is a great scrub for the skin. (There is a per hour charge)
3. Very Helpful Staff
They will walk you through how to dive into the hole. I passed on diving in and opted to go down the ladder into the water. My adventurous colleagues did choose to go for the dive in. Be warned that the water is cold.
4. The Perfect Chill Spot
It is the perfect place to “chill”. There is music, a bar, a pool and the Blue Hole. They also have a hotel on property with a great rooftop overlooking Negril. The rooftop is the perfect place to hang out at night. You could spend 2-3 hours just enjoying the vibe around the Blue Hole.
5. The Dive Show
Depending on the time you get there you could see a great show as the local divers/staff/lifeguards do acrobatic diving into the Blue Hole pool from the surrounding tree and other positions.
6. The Pool
The water in the pool by the bar is also from the Mineral Spring. So if you don’t muster up the courage to dive into the Blue Hole you get the benefits of a mineral bath in the pool (at no charge). NOTE: The Blue Hole Mineral Spring in Negril is not to be confused with the “Blue Hole” in Ocho Rios, St. Ann or the Secret Dornoch River “Blue Hole” in Stewart Town, Trelawny.
