Jean Ballentine, 61, and Mary Cannady, 52, were arrested at New York’s John f. Kennedy Airport following a physical dispute on JetBlue Flight 960 from Jamaica. Ballentine, who had a window seat, tried to get out of the seat when the plane landed by climbing over Cannady. When Cannady protested, Ballentine became angry. At one point, Cannady allegedly dosed Ballentine with pepper spray. For her part, Ballentine allegedly pulled out an eyebrow razor to slash the other woman and a man who attempted to stop the fight. Both women were arrested, said Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo: Ballantine on assault and weapons charges, Cannady for possession of pepper spray. JetBlue staff faced questions about how the women were allowed to get on the flight with pepper spray and a razor, both of which are prohibited on JetBlue. The staff answered by saying it was the responsibility of officials in Jamaica to search passengers boarding the flight.
