September is already here, and just like that, summer is winding down while the calendar is filling up fast! For some, Labor Day was the big finale to summer. For others, the excitement continues with New York Fashion Week and a packed month of events, celebrations, culture, food, fashion and entertainment across the city. From runway shows and cultural experiences to festivals, networking opportunities, live entertainment and simply taking in all that NYC has to offer, there’s plenty to keep you busy this month. Here are a few things you could possibly add to your September calendar! Whether you’re stepping out in style, discovering something new, supporting local creatives or just enjoying the last moments of summer…make September count.

West Indian American Day Parade

Brooklyn was alive with Caribbean pride as NYC officials turned out in strong numbers to lend their support to the 59th staging of the West Indian American Labor Day Parade on Eastern Parkway.
It was more than a paradise, a celebration of Caribbean culture, music, food, fashion, people, and community, showcasing the rich diversity and vibrant spirit that make Brooklyn and New York City such incredible places to live, work and celebrate. From elected officials and community leaders to masqueraders, musicians, vendors and thousands of spectators, the message was clear: Caribbean culture is an integral part of the fabric of New York City.
As we look ahead to the 60th anniversary in 2027, the legacy continues. Brooklyn showed up, the Caribbean showed out, and New York City celebrated with us!

Ben Shelton will face No. 11 seed Frances Tiafoe in an all-American US Open 2026 semifinal, after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in a record-long quarterfinal at the US Open Championship.
In the final match of a long night, that spanned 4 hours and 28 minutes, Shelton defeated Carlos Alcaraz 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (10-7), ending the latest night in US Open history. The previous latest match, between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in 2022, ended at 2:50 a.m. ET.
This is Shelton’s second time in the US Open semis and arguably the biggest win of his career by beating No. 2 seed Alcaraz, a two-time US Open champion and winner of seven Grand Slam titles. Shelton will face Tiafoe in an All-American semifinal on Friday, September 11.
“It’s incredible. I always say this is the greatest sports city in the world, I say that this is the greatest stadium in the world…I’m just so grateful, so blessed,” Shelton said in his on-court interview. “Sharing the court with Carlos is an absolute honor, and I cherish every moment I have out here.”

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for the Spring/Summer 2027 collections runs from Thursday, September 10, through Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with early off-calendar shows starting September 9.
You can view the official lineup and announcements directly on the Council of Fashion Designers of America website.
On September 9, there are a number of Jamaican designers including D’Marsh Couture and Samantha Black plus other major brands like Ralph Lauren and Coach.
Various venues across New York City, including typical outdoor locations like the Manhattan Heliport and Storm King Art Center will host events.

2026 Bus Festival

The 2026 Bus Festival takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Starting at 10:00 AM, the FREE event which is hosted by the New York Transit Musuem showcases the City’s most beloved fleet of vintage buses. You will be able to climb aboard and explore classic NYC buses, including the newly restored Bus 303 and the iconic 1931 double-decker “Betsy”. Step aboard decades of transit history with the Manhattan skyline as your photo-perfect backdrop and even hop aboard special surprise guest vehicles that will make even the seasoned transit fans do a double take. Be there and enjoy family-friendly app scavenger hunts, trivia challenges, and other photo ops.
