Day 273 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Go to the Source: Two Sisters Cave,

Two Sisters Cave presents a pair of caves, each of which has a sinkhole filled with fresh water. The Taino people, the original inhabitants of Jamaica, relied on these as their water source. Located in the Hellshire Hills in St. Catherine, the location’s caverns and an underground tunnel are linked and interconnected with other caverns and tunnels throughout the entire area, which is characterized by its limestone and extends for many miles in all directions. Two Sisters Cave features a petroglyph carving of a face some 700 years old. It is believed that the Taino used the cave for ceremonial purposes.
