Derrick Harriott’s career actually pre-dated Ska. His works with the Jiving Juniors vocal group is legendary. He took it solo both as a singer and as a producer back in 1962. His production on releases by the likes of Keith and Tex, The Kingstonians, and Rudy Mills has stood the test of time. He also worked on superb efforts by the Ethiopians, Junior Murvin, Scotty, and Dennis Brown, among others. Derrick Harriott’s contribution to the evolution of Dub should not be forgotten either. He has produced recordings by Dennis Brown, The Ethiopians, Big Youth, Chariot Riders, The Chosen Few, Keith & Tex, The Kingstonians, Rudy Mills, Scotty, Sly & Revolutionaries, and Winston McAnuff.
