Young fashion designers from across the island are being encouraged to submit their larger-than-life designs to be a part of the high-fashion show to be held at the Independence Grand Gala at the National Stadium on Independence Day, August 6. Organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, The avant-garde runway will allow selected designers the opportunity to grab the attention of an audience of over 80 000 stadium attendees, television and online viewers with their original designs.
Interested designers should be between 16 and 30 years old and their avant-garde designs should be adventurous, visually exciting and Make a bold statement while utilizing the Festival Fashion Theme Wear it Gold and Stripe it Bold.
According to Director of Marketing & Public Relations at the JCDC, Stephen Davidson, “We are looking for high fashion from fresh minds. The JCDC is a trusted source in judging Jamaican talent, so only the loudest, most out-there and patriotic designs will be gracing the Grand Gala Runway” He said, adding “We expect these designs to blow the audience away!”
Davidson further stated that designers are expected to fund, design and produce their own outfits and that the best design will receive a prize.
