On September 14, 2015, social media site Snapchat will focus on Jamaica as a featured location. For 24 hours, users of Snapchat around the world will have the change to make a virtual visit to the island from their home screens. As soon as Snapchat made the announcement, users went to Twitter and Facebook for celebrations and strategy sessions. One social media marketer in Kingston said that Jamaicans are excited to show off their country, noting that much of the world thinks only of Bob Marley or the beaches when Jamaica is mentioned, but that there is so much more to the country. The excitement on Snapchat about the Jamaica feature is reflected in the fact that many people are using the service for the first time.
