Jamaica’s representative at the 65th Miss World pageant, Sanneta Myrie, finished among the top five candidates. When asked why she should gain the title of Miss World 2015, Dr. Myrie said that she was grateful for the chance to be representing her country in China and that her quest for the title was informed by her desire to give back to the world that gave her the charity and love that changed her life for the better when she was a child. She noted that she wanted to inspire everyone to understand that their dreams are worthwhile, regardless of their physical appearance, heritage, or situation in life. Dr. Myrie finished fifth among more than 120 contestants in the pageant. Spain took the top spot, followed by Russia, Indonesia, and Lebanon.
