The Jamaican Women of Florida, Inc. (JWOF) hosts their third annual Health & Wellness forum at the Broward Regional Library, Broward College Campus in Pembroke Pines on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This year’s theme, “To Your Sexual Health – Love & Sex” features discussions with invited experts about healthy relationships. Living in a fast-paced society it is easy to overlook a healthy personal relationship.

This discussion will take attendees through the science of what makes a relationship work.  JWOF invites men and women to join them to explore the secrets of a successful relationship; tips on choosing and keeping the right partner; and self-esteem and romantic love.

In keeping with JWOF’s mission of community outreach, the organization has collaborated with Jamaican psychologist and Florida Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, Dr. Karen Carpenter to conduct the Health and Wellness Forum. Dr. Carpenter is a University lecturer and runs the Sexology Clinic at the University of the West Indies; and is also the creator of the “Love & Sex” brand.  An expert on sexuality, Dr. Carpenter is a radio and television personality, and has worked in the education system in Jamaica and also internationally.

The other half of the Love & Sex team is Jamaican, Michael Anthony Cuffe, Sr., a renowned radio personality in Canada and Jamaica and also a motivational speaker and self-esteem coach.  Together they have taken the “Love & Sex” brand all across Jamaica and now bring their special scintillating magic to Florida.

“The JWOF Health & Wellness Conversations have been so well received that it has become an annual event”, says JWOF President, Dahlia Walker-Huntington. “We are constantly being given suggestions for future Health & Wellness forums but we think that love and sex is a prime topic for some open and frank discussion. We hope that everyone comes out for the event, couples and singles, who may be looking for some tips to meet and keep that special someone”, says Walker-Huntington.

As with all JWOF events, there will be a marketplace with the sponsors displaying their products and various items for sale.  These include the Love & Sex, book by Dr. Carpenter; organic products from River Nyle; Desert Sage candles; and genuine, hand-made leather handbags by Jacqui Sanguinetti.  The event will kick off with a Yoga exercise designed for couples lead by JWOF member and Yogi Judy Wyatt of Samadhi Spa in Kendal.

Sponsors for the event are: The Broward County Board of County Commissioners – Broward County Library, South Regional; Robinson Law & Mediation – Georgia Robinson, Esq.; Goldson Spine& Rehabilitation; Western Union; Morrison’s RX; Benjamin-Wise & Creary; Apricot Office Supplies; Jamaica National Building Society; Law Offices of Dahlia A.
