JOB TITLE: Lecturer in Sociology

LOCATION:  University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago

DESCRIPTION: Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in any three (3) of the assigned areas (Sociological Theory, Research Methods, Introduction to Sociology, Caribbean Social Structure and Sociology of Development); Supervision of postgraduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a PhD in Sociology with academic and professional experience in the field; At least five (5) years’ experience in teaching and research at tertiary level; Published peer-reviewed research; Solid listing of conference presentations; Success and recognition of professional activities; Knowledge of Caribbean Sociology would be an asset; High priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment; Should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills and must be student-centered; A good command of English is essential; Excellent pedagogical skills; Demonstrable capacity to carry out a research agenda; Ability to participate in University life (administration, conference organization and committees) and community outreach.
