TD Bank is proud to present the 2016 Miami Broward Jr. Carnival, a cultural celebration that features music, pageantry and fun for the whole family. This event will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Central Broward Regional Park located at 3700 NW 11th Place in Lauderhill. The Miami Broward Jr. Carnival will include its signature parade starring over 350 young masqueraders ready to showcase their culture and pride through a display of color, style and creativity, as well as having other activities like face painting and rides that make this event a treat for all ages.

Kick off the Carnival season right and indulge in dishes from across the caribbean diaspora from the array of food vendors and experience the culture of the West Indies first hand. Gates open at 11a.m. and the festivities will start at noon. Parking for this event is $1.50 per adult and admission is $10. Kids under 10 years old are in free.

“TD Bank is pleased to once again sponsor the Miami Broward Jr. Carnival,” said Andre Khan, V.P. and co-chair of the African American and Caribbean Leadership Business Resource Group. “As the human bank, we are invested in making a positive and lasting impact on the communities in which we live, work and play. TD Bank couldn’t be more excited to be a part of such a culturally enriching event.”

In addition to presenting the Jr. Carnival, TD Bank is sponsoring the kids play-zone.

The Jr. Carnival inspires and educates children of the Caribbean as well as people from other cultures about the Caribbean through music, artistic expression and an age old tradition. “I am looking forward to a bigger and better Junior Carnival.” said Rose Kelly, the Band Leader of the returning Jr. Carnival Band of the Year, Heritage TNT. With more bands than before competing this year, it’s sure to have bigger competition for the returning title holders..“This year Heritage TNT will be presenting Tribal Fantasy.” Rose revealed about the upcoming performance. “Heritage TNT will continue to do what we do best- that is making creative costumes with meaning to teach our children about the history of their portrayal.”

South Florida has always been a symbol of diversity and events like the Miami Broward Jr. Carnival that foster the continuance of traditions and exposes others to cultures outside of their own are instrumental. “It is extremely important that we promote our Caribbean cultural in this multi cultural society. The community needs to witness our celebration so they can understand and appreciate the richness and vibrancy of our culture, which will improve our community.”  Said Miami Broward Carnival Board of Director, Jeanette Haynes. “Parade participants and patrons should have the most enjoyable and memorable experience in their life. They should leave feeling happy, exhilarated, and with a greater love and appreciation for the Caribbean culture, pledging to return in 2017 for another dose of the infectious Caribbean vibes.”
