Popular Jamaican singer Nicky B has returned to the recording scene with a strong international backing, a trending single and corresponding video. The artiste recently released a track called ‘Hotter Than You’ through Next Plateau and Universal Republic.
Nicky B, who now goes by the moniker Nick Bennett, took some time away from his personal singing career to work on the evolution of his sound as well as focusing on writing for international artistes like Sean Paul, Yellow Claw and R&B sensation Omarion.
“I grade myself harder than anyone could grade me and a few years ago i really felt like I sounded the same as I did in 2010 and 2005. I also really wanted to feel comfortable with the body of work that I was coming out with,” Nicky B shared
Nicky B now feels comfortable with the new recordings he is presenting to the public, and believes they show his growth as a singer and songwriter. Growth evident in the new single ‘Hotter Than You’ released through Next Plateau with Universal Republic initiated by label hit maker Eddie O’Loughlin, A&R at Universal Records. .
“The single was originally done in French but the team at Universal felt it could use an English version. They also felt someone from the islands would do it more justice based on the ‘Island Pop’ feel of the record itself,” Nicky added
Already the single has garnered international rotation in the USA and made the number one spot on the Sirius XM radio playlist two weeks in a row.
“I feel extremely grateful and blessed, I’ve been recording for 17 years and even though I’ve received hits in Europe, France specifically, it feels great to see a single of mine get heavy US rotation and climbing important charts worldwide” Nick added
The official music video for the single has also been gaining traction since its release a month ago. Shot in Bull Bay in St. Andrew Jamaica by Michael Cushnie and organized by The Production Lab, the video epitomizes the feel of the track with the fun scenes and Island elements.
Nicky B has quite an arsenal of tracks recorded and set for timely release including collaborations with Beenie Man, Konshens and Sean Paul. His deal Next Plateau /Universal Republic imprint will see him completing additional singles for that label, including a remix of the ‘Hotter Than You’ single.
