Jamaican Artist Guy Harvey has partnered with famous brand Perry Ellis International, Inc. in the launch of a new collection of apparel. The Guy Harvey collection for men, women, and children was introduced at Surf Expo in January 2019 at Orlando’s Convention Center. Harvey noted that Perry Ellis International is one of the leaders in the industry and its expertise in brand apparel and lifestyle brand categories is expected to expand the Harvey brand to new audiences. Perry Ellis and Guy Harvey signed a global license agreement that goes into effect in June of 2019. Harvey’s 2019 fall collection is the first to be launched by Ellis. The luxury brand was launched 50 years ago as Supreme International Corp. in Miami, Florida. This firm expanded into sports shirts and its own designs soon after. The company was restructured to focus on branded apparel and multi-channel distribution and went public in 1993. In 1999, it acquired the Perry Ellis brand and changed its name to become Perry Ellis International. Shareholders of the firm voted to support founder George Feldenkrais’ bid of $437 million to take the firm private. It went private on October 22, 2018.
