Consul General of Jamaica, Franz Hall and Miss Jamaica World 2005, Terri-Karelle Reid present The Company Dance Theatre and its latest production, “The Rising”. Under the artistic direction of Tony Wilson, Jamaica’s leading modern dance company will be showcasing its latest production, “The Rising” – a one night only performance on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Miramar Cultural Center at 8 PM.
Molding its members since 1988, Artistic Director Tony Wilson brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to The Company Dance Theatre from years of scholarship and performance in New York at the Ailey School, Martha Graham School and Dance Theatre of Harlem; and also in Jamaica at the National Dance Theatre Company. Many of the Company’s members have made vast contributions to the Arts, both within and outside of Jamaica: In Jamaica, founding member of the Company, Barbara McDaniel, holds the title as Artistic Director of Xaymaca and Wolmer’s Dance Troupe; and Former Company member, Terry Hall, the Artistic Director of St. Andrew High School Dance Troupe. Outside Jamaica, former Company members perform in Ballet Hispanico and Garth Fagan Dance in New York, The Lion King in London’s West End and Ballet Creole in Toronto.
Now, The Company Dance Theatre, in its 27th Anniversary Season, delivers and celebrates dance with the people of South Florida! Experience the stories of “The Rising”, featuring extraordinary dancers as they display some of Jamaica’s most hidden talents.
