Online review site Thrillist has named the Pimento Jamaican Kitchen the best place to find Jamaican food in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The list focused on some of the newer dining venues in the area as part of its continuing effort to find the best new restaurants in the United States. Locals in the Twin Cities welcome the move by Pimento from the suburbs into the city proper. The restaurant takes a fresh view of traditional Jamaican cuisine, including Kingston-style jerk chicken or pork, braised oxtail, and curry goat. All the dishes have bold flavors, as do the classic Jamaican patties, which are fried pastry dough filled with spicy beef or milder chicken. Plenty of Red Stripe is available to wash it all down. The chefs use old family recipes that put the focus on seriously spicy meat dishes. Homemade sauces add to the heat, and several Jamaica sodas are on offer as is beer and wine. Pimento has two locations: the Food Network contest-winning food court or the new store on Nicolette Avenue.
