Dancehall lyricist Wasp has released a brand new track set to heat up the streets and airwaves this festive season.
The single ‘Hard At Dem’, on noted producer Notnice’s ‘Wicked Up’ riddim, talks about overcoming adversities and proving the naysayers wrong while staying true to who you are unapologetically.
“I feel like at this point in my career I have to give my 150%, I feel like I’m in the top five set of lyrists in Jamaica and when people talk about the top artistes I want to be a part of that conversation. I’m putting in the work right now because there is room for just one #1” Wasp shared
‘Hard at Dem’ can be seen as a follow up to Wasp’s popular ‘Haters’ single also produced by Notnice on the Ova Dweet Riddim. A video directed by Keith Watkis for that single was recently released online and on local tv platforms; In the ‘Haters’ visuals Wasp can be seen literally burying all the haters, poverty, negative thoughts and energies and moving forward with positivity while trusting the spiritual protection.
“I have found myself in direct contact with haters a lot of times, evil people are around in abundance especially in music, sometimes you have to shake the hand of some knowing they are 100% fake. My reality inspires my material all the time and this is why the fans can relate to my music” Wasp added
The latest recordings form part of a recording contract that Wasp has signed with Notnice Records that includes recording additional material and promotion for the projects released. This contract may also culminate into a body of work resembling an EP or full length album but Wasp isn’t rushing this process either.
“The buzz worldwide is necessary for a few singles before an album or EP will be released, right now we have ample material to release a few albums but we want a few number one singles trending worldwide first before we release a full project. Our focus is on these new singles right now” Wasp explained
Wasp is also busy promoting the AWahsuh clothing line that he is currently the face of. He will be performing on the Suncity Campus Invasion and the Mello Fm Road Show in the coming weeks. The Wasp annual birthday bash ‘Tek Weh Bwoy Gyal’ is set for December 16 in his hometown of Cassia Park in Kingston.
