Adult and Children’s Gospel Song Competitions Now Open

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture is now inviting entries for the 2016 Jamaica Gospel and Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competitions.

The JCDC, through these Gospel Song Competitions, have been providing a platform for talent development and inspiration over the years. Persons who wish to enter the Competition can access entry forms from the JCDC website, www.jcdc.gov.jm, its Head Office at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue in Kingston or Parish Offices across the island.

The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition is open to children between the ages of 6 and 15 years and allows participants to compete with original or cover songs. The entries for the competition closes on Friday, November 27, 2015. Individuals, schools, churches and community groups across the country are encouraged to submit entries in the solo, choir and ensemble categories.

The last day to enter the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition is at the final eliminations on Friday, January 29, 2016. Entrants are encouraged to submit their forms as soon as possible; but may also take their form to the elimination shows planned in each region. For years, the Jamaica Gospel Competition has been challenging writers and vocalists to become the best new artist/writer of the year by expressing themselves through an original song. The song may be from any genre of music which will spread the gospel. All applicants must be 16 years and older and be a resident of Jamaica.

In addition to the invaluable experience and talent development that the Competitions offer, competitors have the opportunity to win cash prizes and awards.
