CTEX FIRST CARRIER IN REGION TO RECEIVE TOP CERTIFICATION—07/02/13
The Curacao Technology Exchange (CTEX), N.V. is the first and the biggest multi-tenant data center to operating in the Caribbean and Latin America to achieve Uptime Institute Tier-IV design certification. The certification was achieved by its first data center; the firm intends to have four data centers in total. The state-of-the-art facility covers 57,000 square feet, has carrier neutrality, and is located in Curacao. The certification reflects a benchmarking standard that compares data centers around the world.

TEA TIME FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH COUNCIL—07/03/13
The Scientific Research Council (SRC), via Marketech Ltd., its affiliate, is investigating the business potential of herbal teas that have become popular due to their health-enhancing qualities. Studies have been done on tea and its health benefits, but not much research has been conducted on local herbal teas in Jamaica. The SRC has studied over 100 medicinal plants with health-promoting qualities, including cerasse, lemon grass, dandelion, soursop, and lime leaf, which as consumed by Jamaicans every day.

BOLIVIA WAITING FOR TECHNOLOGY, ENERGY INVESTMENTS FROM RUSSIA—07/04/13
Bolivia is not well-developed in terms of technology, and it is making efforts to attract investment from other nations to help with the utilization of national resources, such as processing natural gas. Evo Morales, president of Bolivia, visited Moscow for the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries and met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to discuss Russian energy firms and their potential to help Bolivia’s oil and gas development.
