Day 236 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Required for Visitors: Partake of Jamaica’s National Dish

No visitor to Jamaica should leave the island without trying the country’s national dish: ackee and saltfish. Often described as similar to scrambled eggs but much better, this dish combines cod and the locally grown ackee fruit, which has a sweetness that make a perfect contrast to the saltiness of the fish. The fish and ackee are often combined with onions and peppers, making the dish a hearty meal that is traditionally enjoyed in the morning.
