The Jamaica Health Ministry announced that they will be obtaining 10 new vehicles from auto dealer, Toyota Jamaica Limited, valued at approximately $81.13 million.

The announcement was made on June 17, 2015 at the Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference, at the Montego Bay Convention Center, in St. James. Portfolio Minister, Hon. Dr. Fenton Ferguson, and Toyota Jamaica Sales and Marketing Manager, Howard Foster signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to officially formalize the arrangement.

Conveying brief comments, Dr. Ferguson said the ambulances are a part of the second arrangement of new units being acquired by the Ministry in the past three years.

Senator Hon. Sandrea Falconer, Minister of Information did the Jamaica House Weekly Media Briefing after the announcement. Senator Falconer’s remarks included announcements and updates on the following items: Amendments to the Customs Act, special provision/conch levy, KMA water supply improvement, approval to continue hosting Office of the Latin American Energy Organisation (OLADE) and board appointments.
